We are all very nice people. But somehow, sometimes we manage to get into problems even with our best of friends. We are all humans, and we all make mistakes. There is always scope for corrections. Here are some pointers to help us becomes better friends, and stay that way.
1. Its always better to avoid lending and/or borrowing stuff from friends.
2. We don’t have to feel that because we are best friends with someone, we have to go everywhere together.
3. We can sometimes tend to put someone down in order to win the approval of others. This we simply should NOT do.
4. Trusting no one is a problem. If the mind starts getting suspicious, it starts to search for opportunities to believe what it suspected was right.
5. In contrast, but ironically enough, trusting everybody can also be a problem.
6. If something that your friend has done/is doing that you feel has hurt you, do not react immediately. Do not give into the immediate feeling of impulse. Take some time off for yourself. Go for a walk. Think things over. Let your anger explode when no one is around to hear you. Think through what you want to say to your friend. Remember, as Josh Billings said, “Friendship is like earthenware; once broken it CAN be mended”.
7. Often, working through conflicts together can make a friendship even more stronger.
8. Friends don’t always like the same things, or act in the same way. Ina good friendship, there is no room for these differences.
9. It helps trying to put yourself in your friends’ shoes and trying to look from their angles.
