We’ve all heard about them, in the papers, magazines, and on educational TV, the phenomenon known as The Near Death Experience (NDE). Countless number of people who have just barely survived death, narrate the what they felt just as they were ‘being called’. These feelings seem to be different for people, some of them describe seeing light, some of them feel as if they are passing through a tunnel with a very bright light at the end of it, among many instances. But of all these, the most fascinating experience which have been found common among many people who have had an NDE is perhaps the one where the person has an out of body experience, i.e. he feels as if he is floating out of his body, and looking at everybody from the ceiling.
And now, scientists and doctors have decided to put this phenomenon under the microscope, and conduct some studies and experiments to try to get more insights on it. They say that this was a field that was never properly explored, and now they are going to make up for it. They say that by studying these experiences, we might be able to know what everyone is likely to experience during the “process” of death. In one of the studies, doctors and scientist plan to lay out images, near the patients’ bed, which can be viewed only from the ceiling level. So, if the person really does float out of his physical body, he might remember seeing those images. If this does happen, we may be led to conclude that the “subconscious soul” or the “inner consciousness” is in fact a separate entity than the body itself. Now, wouldn’t that be interesting? We’ll just have to wait and see.
